A Semantic Approach for Automated Rule Compliance Checking in Construction Industry

Automated Compliance Checking (ACC) of building/construction projects is one important applications in Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry, because it provides the checking processes results whether a building design complies with relevant laws, policies regulations. Currently, still involves lots manual operations, massive time cost consumption. Additionally, some sub-tasks ACC have been researched, while few studies can automatically implement whole process. To solve related issues, we proposed semantic approach to process as possible, which Natural Language Processing (NLP) used extract rule terms logic relationships among these from text regulatory documents. Rule are mapped keywords (concepts or properties) BIM data through term matching similarity analysis. After that, according keywords, corresponding SPARQL query generated. The be non-compliance compliance rules based on generated requirements stakeholders. cases study proves provide flexible effective for data. In addition, approach, also further develop framework automated construction industry.
